Description

If you want to know how a small village located near the end of the known world became the summer resort of Portuguese royalty, join this tour where you will visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Sintra, village and gardens. This little paradise is located just 40 minutes away from Lisbon. An area full of mountains and nature where you will stroll through its medieval streets full of history in the shelter of the Castelo dos Mouros. Palaces and castles seem to sprout from the mountain, and this will enchant poets like the famous Lord Byron or composers like Richard Strauss. We will visit the Vila de Sintra, with its famous sweets, the Queijadas and the travesseiros. In front of the National Palace of Sintra we will talk about the kings and queens who lived there and how the history of Portugal and the world changed from those rooms. We will go in search of the palaces that populate the mountains and we will talk about perhaps the most famous one, Pena Palace, a jewel of Portuguese romanticism. Our path will also lead us to try to unveil the secrets of one of the most mysterious places in Portugal. Esotericism and secret societies go hand in hand at Quinta da Regaleira. After this walk through more than 3000 years of history you can visit the palaces on your own, stroll through the endless Sintrense forest or stop for a bite to eat some pieces of the rich Portuguese gastronomy. Minimum attendees

Groups of more than 7 people are not allowed and will be turned away at the meeting point. If you wish to take the tour with a group of more than 6 adults together then you will have to pay €10 per adult to the guide before the tour starts. A minimum of 7 participants is required for the tour to happen. Individual bookings can be made, but if there are less than 7 attendees at the meeting point, then the tour will not take place.

Time of arrival

Please, arrive at least 10 minutes before the tour and check in with the guide who will be waiting for you at the meeting point holding an orange umbrella.

Booking details

Even if you have booked the tour, in case you arrive more than 5 minutes late and do not contact us in advance, in high season we cannot guarantee you a spot on the tour, as they are limited. If you are late, please always try to contact us. This way the guide will be able to send you the location..
